Why choose acupuncture at home?
In-home acupuncture treatments provide a comfortable, familiar environment that enhances relaxation, which can improve therapeutic outcomes for conditions like fertility, stress, anxiety, and insomnia. Without the stress of travel or clinical settings, you can experience deeper healing and feel more at ease. This personalised, convenient approach fosters a strong therapeutic relationship and supports your overall well-being.
How do I prepare for my in-home treatment?
For a smooth and comfortable experience, please make sure there is a quiet, distraction-free space for the consultation. Make sure there’s enough room for me to set up the treatment table, if needed, and kindly ensure that a hand-washing facility is easily accessible for me during the appointment.
Will you bring a treatment table?
Yes, I bring a portable treatment table, with an adjustable backrest to accommodate pregnancy. I provide my own linens for cleanliness, but I recommend clients use their own blanket or pillow for added comfort during the treatment.
Before and After Care:
Before your acupuncture session, it’s best to have a light meal or snack and stay hydrated to maintain energy levels during the treatment. After your session, it’s important to avoid strenuous activities and alcohol, allowing your body to fully benefit from the therapy. Rest and hydration will help support the healing process and maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.
What should I discuss before starting treatment ?
During the consultation, it’s important to discuss your medical history, any medications or supplements you’re currently taking, and any changes to these. This information helps me tailor your treatment to your specific needs and ensure your safety. Additionally, let me know about any health concerns or goals you have, so we can create the most effective plan for your well-being. Open communication is key to getting the best results from your acupuncture sessions.
Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
Yes, acupuncture is safe during pregnancy and can effectively alleviate common discomforts such as nausea, back pain, and stress. It also promotes relaxation, supports emotional balance, and can help prepare the body for labour. If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, please let me know so we can tailor the treatment to your specific needs and ensure the best care.
What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required. All late cancellations may be charged at full cost.
Do you accept health insurance?
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council, my treatments are covered by many health insurance providers. Please click here to find further details. I am more than happy to provide invoices.
How many treatments are needed?
Acupuncture's effects are cumulative, meaning results build over time with regular treatments. For conditions like pain and stress/anxiety, noticeable improvements may occur after 3–6 sessions, but more chronic or complex issues may require 8–10 or more treatments.
For issues related to the menstrual cycle, such as irregular periods, cramps, or fertility, the body often needs time to adjust. Allow at least 3 menstrual cycles for acupuncture to regulate the body’s rhythms and address underlying imbalances. Regular treatments during these cycles help align the flow of Qi and blood, gradually improving reproductive health and menstrual regularity.
Can I receive acupuncture for general wellness?
Absolutely! Acupuncture has long been used as a preventative medicine, so you don’t need to be unwell or injured to benefit from it. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, it can help boost your immune system, improve sleep, support emotional well-being, and promote overall physical and mental health.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture stimulates nerves, muscles, and connective tissue, promoting blood flow and triggering the body’s natural healing response. It works by encouraging circulation and reducing inflammation, which helps manage pain and improve overall health.
In traditional acupuncture theory, it balances the body’s energy (known as Qi). When Qi becomes blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to illness or discomfort. Acupuncture unblocks this energy, restoring balance and helping the body heal naturally. This combination of physical and energetic effects makes acupuncture a powerful holistic therapy
What does acupuncture feel like?
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, often so thin that you may not feel them at all when inserted. Some individuals experience a warm or dull sensation, or a tingling along the limb, but it is generally not painful. While the needles are in place, many people report feeling a deep sense of relaxation.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
